  1. Scott: I thought you provided a very strong survival memo. The length of time was great: not too long, not too short. I did our group's survival memo and it ended up way too long, whereas yours was short enough that as a new student I would sit down and actually watch it in its entirety and it contained a lot of key tips that would helpful to new students coming into the course. I particularly liked that you provided "3 main points" and that you reiterated them at the end.

To the group: I thought the presentation was very pleasing to the eye. I liked the clean lines. I would have enjoyed some audio or videos to make it a little bit more engaging and maybe less written (large paragraph) content.

With that said, I do understand that it can be difficult to convey everything you want about your process when you are only using bullet points. On the blog you can't "elaborate" without typing more, where as in person you can list bullet points but then talk about each point more.

  2. Scott, your survival video was spot on. I watched many of the videos available to us, and this was detailed enough to get students on the right path early.
I enjoyed your final program design, it was a natural extension of what your program plan laid out. This could be the type of program picked up and really utilized.
    Good job SDL team!!

  3. Hello group 1 - I thought both the survival memo video and the audio piece were clear and easy to follow. Both provided key, important information and were succinct enough to keep attention easily. I thought your presentation also provided good, more detailed information. The only issue that stuck out to me, was that if watching a presentation such as this in a class for example, I wouldn't necessarily be able to read long pieces of information. Small, bullet point ideas would be slightly easier to follow. Maybe including more visual aids rather than details through sentences or paragraphs would be more effective? Otherwise, I thought your program and processes were laid out well, and I was able to easily follow the progression of the course. Good job!

  4. Great job on the final presentation. I liked that you kept it as a simple high level overview that connected all the pieces of the process.

I would have liked links to the pages for each phase we did embedded into your powerpoint. I don't think we did that in our final presentation either. The things you think of AFTER the fact.

Thank you for sharing your research, you ideas, your reflections, and your learning with the group! Good luck in your next semester or the after...

  5. Hello Group 1,

Great job on completing your final demonstration. I really liked reading through your program design the first time around and I enjoyed the unique path that you took to look at how to teach ESL in a different way. Your final demonstration was equally interesting. I liked how you used the audio introduction as a means to set up your demonstration. Scott, I really enjoyed your You Tube video on how to survive the course. The syllabus was definitely our best tool on how to survive. Your google doc was very well organized and a great summary of the general information for your group project. All around good job!

  6. Group 1,

You provided a very detailed description of how you completed your projects, and how you worked together on the group projects. The presentation is very clear.

Scott: This is the best introduction of how to utilize the resources and guidance provided in our syllabus. Your introduction will definitely benefit the future students.

    Suggestions:

    1. Tell us the main ideas of the theory you selected based on the findings from your literature review. This is important since the main ideas of SDL can guide you to design your program.

    2. Use multi-media in your PPT instead of only using words. Creativity is required in this final project demonstration.
